At 2 this afternoon Michelle suggests we take a cab to Brussels, stay at the Marriott overnight and take the train to Bruges and stay overnight there. Everyone needs a friend like Michelle, right!
We wandered around the city for over three hours and here are a few highlights:
The little peeing boy statue!! Is he from a Belgium folktale? Belgush. Belgian. BELGIAN. A Belgian folktale?! What beautiful sights you too are seeing. And how absolutely stunning you are. I love seeing all these photos of you two!!! It's like cheekbone city!
Here's a brief choppy history on the Manneken-Pis:
2ft high Current statue has been in place since 1619 but evidence of similar statue has been there since 1451. Many rumors and fables about it. It has a long history of being stolen. A tradition since 1698 of visiting heads of state donating miniature versions of their national costumes. The statue now has over 800 costumes including Samurai, Santa Claus and Elvis suit.
You two crack me up! The city looks beautiful, but pales to your beauty when you're in town!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics and comments, it looks like a great place to get lost in!
